Filey Dams Nature Reserve
Place Category: Attractions and Things To Do
A freshwater marsh on the western edge of Filey, the Dams has two hides to allow the reserve’s bird life to be observed. There are occasional bird watching and small mammal trapping sessions organised by the Filey Bird Observatory and Group. Their excellent website covers latest bird sightings, events and information about the five reserves that are looked after by this thriving group of volunteers.
The Dams are a fifteen minute walk from the railway and bus stations. There is a small car park at the end of Wharfedale and wheelchair access is possible. Unfortunately, the reserve cannot allow dogs due to the wildlife on the site.
