Lighting up the Coast, The Odyssey is coming to the Crescent Gardens
It is being described as an epic adventure on the Yorkshire coast. Inspired by Homer’s classic tales of the Trojan Wars, and the hero Odysseus’ incredible adventure trying to return to his beloved homeland, this version is going to be set across over 100 miles of Yorkshire’s dramatic coastline and surrounding areas.
A huge illuminated ship will appear on the Crescent Gardens on 20 April from 6.30pm. Passersby will be invited to walk beneath the timbers of Odysseus’ ship; it takes 5 minutes to walk through the installation, learn what the project is all about; and find out more about how to get involved in this epic adventure. You can learn more about this huge project from the website of the company that is running the project, Animated Objects.
Animated Objects have been working closely with local authorities to ensure that the installation is safe for visitors and Covid-compliant. Please follow the advice of the staff on site; and allow others space to enjoy the experience when you visit.
The Odyssey project is supported by The Yorkshire Coast Bid.
