As covid restrictions ease to once again allow outdoor team sports to be played, it is perhaps a good timing to launch a new football club. Welcome to the Filey Flyers FC, a newly established team who will be playing Sunday matches on the pitches at Clarence Drive.

The team has come from Castle Tavern FC, the majority of the players are the same, but they saw the potential that playing out of Filey can bring. One of the assistant managers lives in Filey and he was behind the move, it is based on the community feel and the facilities at Filey Community Sports Club. The Flyers have a great relationship with the Filey Town Saturday team. Hopefully, the emergence of the Flyers, playing on Sundays, will encourage more people to join the youth teams and get involved in active sport.

They are currently hoping to arrange friendly fixtures against Saturday or Sunday league clubs from around the North Yorkshire, East Riding & Humberside areas. They can be contacted via the club’s Facebook page or by phone on 07947 899 552.
