Americana Festival hits town this Weekend
This weekend voodoo rhythms and old timey vaudeville cabaret makes an unlikely arrival in Filey. On Friday-Sunday 1-3rd October, Filey hosts its first ever Americana Festival. Americana is a genre that encompasses the shared and varied traditions that make up the musical ethos of the US. Folk, country, blues, gospel and bluegrass, a distinctive roots orientated sound.
Nathan Bell opens proceedings at 7.30pm on Friday night at the Evron Centre with support from Simon Robinson. On the same evening Tommy’s on Hope street hosts Matt Hughes.
Saturday sees The Jake Leg Jug Band headlining at the Evron Centre with The Good Intentions in support. Another 7.30pm start. Around at Tommy’s Georgia Nevada is completing the Saturday night offering.
There are some quite unique acts appearing. None more so than Sunday’s headliners the Jo Carley and the Old Dry Skulls to Filey Evron Centre. Described as ‘death skiffle’ with voodoo vaudeville blues. Who wouldn’t fancy a bit of death skittle!
Individual evening shows are £12 from Filey Post Office and the Red Box on Hope Street. Tickets can be booked online at wegottickets
